A Syrian military statement early Saturday said 110 missiles were fired during the joint attack. Brig. Gen. Ali Mayhoub said, ‘Our air defenses effectively shot down most of them’

RT reports: “The majority of rockets fired in Syria by the UK, US, and France were intercepted by Syrian air defense systems, the Russian Defense Ministry said. Russian air defense units were not involved in repelling the attack.

The warplanes and vessels of the US and its allies launched over 100 cruise missiles and air-surface missiles on Syrian civil and military facilities, the ministry stated.”

“Attacking Syria is a crime. US president [Donald Trump], UK prime minister [Theresa May] and the president of France [Emmanuel Macron] are criminals,” Khamenei said, as cited by Mehr News Agency.

U.S., allies target chemical weapon sites with strikes in Syria

“U.S. President Donald Trump, along with France and the U.K., launched what he called “precision strikes” against targets associated with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s chemical weapons on Friday, saying the strikes were a bid to deter future chemical attacks.”images CBC NEWS logo

Immediately after the attack, hundreds of residents began gathering in the landmark Omayyad square of the Syrian capital. Many waved Syrian, Russian and Iranian flags

National Post “The attack began at 4 a.m. (0100 GMT) with missiles hitting the eastern suburbs of Damascus, shaking the grounds from a distance. The sky looked orange over eastern Damascus apparently as a result of fires caused by the missiles hitting Syria. Air defense units fired surface-to-air missiles from different directions toward incoming missiles.”
